Moderate Support Feeding/High Chairs

If your child does not need help with head support or a great deal of trunk support, the first two types of chairs may fit your needs.

Keekaroo HeightRight Chair

The Keekaroo HeightRight Chair can be used for infants as a high chair with tray, but it can also be used as a chair for a person weighing up to 250 pounds.  The Keekaroo is a wooden chair with removable tray, three point harness and seat cushion. When used with the tray, the Keekaroo HeightRight Chair provides a decent amount of trunk support.  The Keekaroo is one of the most reasonably priced chairs available and will provide many years of use.  You can purchase a padded, molded seat insert to provide more support as well. The seat and the foot tray are both adjustable and can be moved as your child grows or as you change tables. This is the chair we use for my son and we really like it. It worked as a high chair with the tray when he was younger and we now use it at the table without the tray.

Keekaroo’s HeightRight Chair can be purchased online at Amazon, Target or Overstock.  Keekaroo also sells a Cafe Booster Seat which comes with a three point harness.  It is surprisingly difficult to find booster seats that come with a seat belt so this might meet your traveling needs.

Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair

One of our families borrowed the Tripp Trapp Chair for several months and were pleased with its durability.  It shares many similar features as the Keekaroo, but has a deeper seat and base, comes in a wide variety of colors and has more adaptations for the newborn and infant stage. Like the Keekaroo, the tray can be removed to allow the chair to be used at a dining room table.

If you have either of these chairs in your home or you have others to recommend, please let us know what you think in the comments section.
